A beach maternity photoshoot in Dubai

Expecting couple smiling and holding hands in front of the waves during their Dubai beach maternity photoshoot. Expecting couple holding her bump together, with the sea and Burj Al Arab behind them. Man kneeling to kiss a pregnant woman’s bump on the sand beside the sea.

White tops, blue jeans and bare feet on the sand. For this maternity photoshoot in Dubai, the sea gave us a lovely, simple setting to photograph this couple together and make room for some portraits of her on her own. A pair of tiny white baby shoes brought a little hint of what comes next into a gallery that is very much about them, here and now.

White, denim and the sea

I love how their outfits sit with the colours of the beach. The white tops pick up the pale sand and the foam at the water’s edge, while the blue denim brings a little more colour into the soft sea and sky. It is a coordinated look, but still feels like something you could wear for a walk together.

That simplicity runs through the photographs. With the horizon behind them and plenty of space around them, there is room to notice a smile, a hand on her bump or the way they look at one another. The Burj Al Arab appears in a few frames, but the two of them stay at the centre of the story.

A walk together, a moment to pause

From walking together at the water’s edge to sitting on the sand, there was room for both movement and quieter portraits. They walk hand in hand, turn towards each other beside the waves and come together for the closer photographs. Alongside those moments, there is space for her on her own: standing beside the sea or sitting on the sand, with the shape of her bump gently held by her hands.

I kept a mixture of wide beach views and closer photographs, so the gallery holds both the setting and the small details. In colour, the denim and the pale green water tie everything together. The black-and-white images give a different feel to the same session, drawing your eye to their expressions and the closeness between them.

The little things that belong to this chapter

The tiny white shoes are such a sweet part of this series. Held in their hands, or beside her bump, they bring the baby into the photographs without taking the attention away from the couple. There is also a small shell, a detail that fits so naturally with the beach around them.

Together, those details, the portraits and the walks by the water make a record of this pregnancy that feels connected to a real place and their time by the sea. A gallery of the two of them, with a little glimpse of what comes next.
